New Lens

I bought a Canon 50mm lens. It's really small, light, and is very good for low light conditions. The link above shows the difference between the one I bought, and a better more expensive variant of the same lens.

This stuff is really cool.

Elementary Particles

I bought a second CD from Bluetech called Elementary Particles. It comes bundled with the first CD, called Prima Materia (mentioned in a previous blog). This stuff rocks.

It's shipping from France, and should get here next week.

Expiry Dates Be Damned!

We were supposed to go to Atch and Co, I even printed off a google maps to help me find the place, but we ran out of time. The expiry date of the gift certificate has passed! Those sneaky bastards.

New Camera Rocks

Yeah, it's that good. I don't want to trash my old Sony F828, but the Canon EOS 20D kicks its ass, in pretty much every scenario. Except infrared, I need that from time to time. To Edmonton

I'll be traveling in a few hours to Edmonton. But before I leave, Kelsey and I are going to Atch and Co to spend a $50 gift certificate that I won at my departmental BBQ.

Edmonton Next Weekend

Hey Uhler fans. I'm going to Edmonton with my sister and Shanin Friday the 17th. I'm gunna buy my new camera there (to save some money on tax) on the 18th. PST sucks.

New Camera Purchase

Alright Uhler fans, if you thought I was annoying with my Sony camera in your face, you're going to be doubly annoyed at the camera I'm getting on Monday. Here it tis:



The Canon EOS 20D. This is the camera I saw being used at Boehmer's wedding last weekend. It comes with a detachable lens, and I'm gunna get this one:



About the equivalent to a 5x optical zoom, with a wide angle option. I'll be able to take about a thousand pictures on a single charge, and I can store many thousands of high quality pictures on my memory card.

It doesn't have an infrared mode, nor can it record movies or audio. But I will be able to take pictures in difficult lighting conditions without the use of a flash.

Life Altering Weekend

It's not often that one can say they've had a life altering weekend. It was significant in a few different ways:

1) I was a groomsman for the first time in my life. The experience was quite amazing as I did what I could to help Boehmer get married.

2) I had my picture taken by two professional photographers. (I might post some of the pictures here, if I can.) One using film, and the other using a digital camera. I had an opportunity to speak with the photographer who used the digital camera. She used it in a very authoritative manner and showed me some tricks with a light meter.

Needless to say, I was quite impressed with both the skill and efficiency of both photographers, and the digital camera. I could tell that the quality of pictures from her good camera were very much better than the one that I could get from mine. This is probably the only time that I have suffered from "camera envy", and, boy howdy, it got me a thinking...

I've convinced myself to purchase it. I already had the money set aside and I'm excited to buy it on Monday.

3) The photographer and I spoke about the business, and it got me thinking about somehow getting more into the game. Volunteering my time as an intern a few days a month to get some experience, and taking some high quality pictures of my family and friends. I have lots of traveling planned over the next few months (Strasbourg Saskatchewan, Las Vegas (again), Halifax, and Vancouver.) There will be lots of things to take pictures of.

As I said, there's not many times in one's life that you can say you've experienced an epiphany, but last weekend was probably one of them.

A New Post

I've been gently reminded by my cousin Keri to post more in my blog. Counting her, and me, there's probably three people who read this blog! Yeah, my readership has tripled.

I'll write out more of what I'm planning on doing this summer 'n' stuff like that.
